The genesis of The Koncepts of Light (KOL) occurred when lead singer Paul Meaney was hospitalized for 13 days, 5years ago. During that time,he encountered a spiritual experience and the drive to play music reappeared after leaving it behind for several years. Paul spent the next 2 years writing songs,and thensurrounded himself with a band of great musicians to collaborateand form a band. Joined by Paul J Doron on Guitar and Mario Cabral on drums, the KOL has developed into a power trio on the risein Toronto’s local music scene. The KOL is a band from Toronto exploring sounds ofrock, progressive, electronic, and classicalgenres. Lyrical themes vary from spirituality, understanding love, personal struggles and current political issues facing the world today. Musical influences of the band include Muse, Imagine Dragons,The Kings of Leon,The Red Hot Chilli Peppers,Hozier, The Police, Rush, Metallica,Coldplay,Peter Gabriel,Mozartand Ludwig Van Beethoven. The KOL has had the song “Before we notice” ranked in the 95th percentile of songs reviewed in the reverbnation.comcrowd review, which has reviewed over 5 million songs. The song was also featured on the reverbnation.comhomepage in 2018 and featured on DC RiotRadio “the indie hour” in 2019.
