Astrid is a singer-songwriter with influences that range from classical to heavy rock, with a healthy dose of blues and country in between. Her discography dates back to 1984 and boasts over forty releases, including several gold and platinum-selling albums singing backup for artists such as Neil Young and Nancy Wilson. Through the years, she has played stages large and small, from the Whiskey-A-Go-Go in Hollywood to Paradiso in Amsterdam, Rock in Rio, and everywhere in between. Citing her primary influences as David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Kate Bush, and Black Sabbath, she plays a 12-string like it’s a weapon and she isn’t afraid to change strings on the day of a show.
As a tip to her hard rocking roots, her solo acoustic shows have been compared to Alice In Chains Unplugged, and Music Connection Magazine once said she was “more closely related to Angus…” Music Express magazine describes her as “evocative, stunning, soulful… a gifted songwriter,” and Blues Hamilton rightly notes that there is “a musical surprise around every corner.”
Young has released four solo albums: Brainflower in 1995, Matinee in 2002, Pokalolo Paniolo (as iST) in 2003, and more recently, One Night at Giant Rock, the acid-folk epic, co-produced by Victor DeLorenzo, an original Violent Femme, which has recently been remastered and re-released on vinyl. The much-anticipated sequel to One Night at Giant Rock, How the Beautiful Get Away with Murder, is slated for release in the spring of 2025 and features the legendary Eddie Kramer producing, David J (Bauhaus/Love and Rockets) on bass and collaborating on a co-written duet (the title track), and contributions from Neil Young himself.
Beyond music, Astrid is also a bestselling author. In 2009, she released Being Young: Scott, Neil and Me (Insomniac Press), has authored several screenplays, made a film, is a certified sommelier, and is fresh off a 26-date tour of US theatres as the opening act for Our House: the Music of CSNY.

Albertan synth-pop musician Vanden Dool is a member of one of the most often overlooked music scenes in his home province. Taking elements of indie, new wave, darkwave and industrial and dispersing them throughout his discography, he combines pop hooks and dance beats to melancholic themes of heartache, loneliness, poverty, and insatiable longing. Along with touring across the country, he has shared the stage with Southern Ontario’s Glass Apple Bonzai, Vancouver’s Actors, Montreal’s Thierry Larose, Calgary’s Sunglaciers and many more.
Thrifted Tease is the band you didn’t know you needed to hear — like a preloved T-shirt you find that’s effortlessly cool and intentionally inimitable. Formed in early 2024, the band fuses old-school pop, rock and funk into ambitious modern indie.
Though the group is still new, its members have a history of collaboration. All five musicians have crossed paths in various groups over the years, but it wasn’t until recently that they clicked into place. Their sound blends infectious rhythms and confident melodies with an often-missed sense of nostalgia.
Thrifted Tease is currently recording their debut album to be released in 2025. Until then, the band is bringing their keys-forward sound and (of course) thrifted t-shirts to Toronto. You won’t look at your thrift store finds the same way again.
All hailing from Vaughan, Ontario, this show is a diverse group of bands that melds aspects of hard rock, emo, progressive rock, and indie. Aspiring to fill the absence of local bands, venues or role models of their suburb, this show is not only a showcase, but an answer to that silence.
Redhed : Redhed is a high-energy six-piece band blending emo, rock, and funk influences into a seamless, electrifying sound. With inspirations like Paramore, Pearl Jam, and Thundercat, they craft music that’s all about fun and connection. Redhed promises a sound that moves and unites, delivering a guaranteed good time.
The BRGHTLIGHTS : The BRGHTLIGHTS are a four piece band from Woodbridge, Ontario. Sonically adventurous and lyrically earnest, the band – equally inspired by the songwriting of “The River” era Springsteen, and Robert Smith as they are the production and arrangements of My Bloody Valentine, Prince, and Talking Heads.
Phantasia : Phantasia is a progressive indie rock 3-piece with jazzy instrumentals, poppy hooks, and the occasional heavy influence. With all these inspirations to pull from, you’re never quite sure what to hear next.
