In 2018, Karim re-invents his music by incorporating dancehall beats and synths into his 80s/90s alternative roots while playfully utilizing his ‘’Bowie-esque’’ vocals to re-emerge as a refreshingly unique variation of hypnotic, ‘noir’ electro/rock simply dubbed, ‘’Rising Few’’. @rising_few
12am – Chris Velan has always been crossing borders with his mix of world music-influenced, singer-songwriter pop. Chris’ latest album, Amateur Hour, has already been turning heads since its September 14th release with its single, “All Time Record” reaching #7 on CBC Radio 3’s Top 30 Songs of the Week. Adroitly produced and recorded by Rod Shearer, Amateur Hour, achieves a low-humming, thrilling point of humanness that spans bare-bone ballads and cascading free-for-alls. One is left with the distinct sense that this time around, Chris is gleefully participating in his own dismantling, anxious to explode into his own, joyful splinters. @chrisvelan
