CMW SHOWCASE!
May 7 @ 7:00 pm – May 8 @ 1:00 am

8pm – Grace Bakker is a 19-year-old, non-binary singer/songwriter from Toronto. Inspired by artists like Johnny Cash, City and Colour, and Matt Maeson, their voice offers sounds from many different places. After their experience on CTV’s “The Launch”, Grace released an EP called “Always Learning, Always Growing.” and has continued to push their music to new places. Focussed on emotion and atmosphere, Grace strives to create an experience for others using their music and intimate lyrics. @gracebakkermusic

9pm – Heather Janssen – Whether it’s her new-age writing style or her smooth, honest voice, twenty-five year old singer-songwriter Heather J will make you feel like you’ve known each other for years. While her songs exude strong pop breakdowns and infectious syncopation, Heather ties in her organic roots that inevitably leave you wanting to know the voice behind the music. @heatherjmusic

10pm – Patrick Rock – is a Canadian Singer songwriter merging the worlds of folk, acoustic pop and hip hop together while singing about love, loss, reflection, and heartbreak. @patrickrockmusic

11pm – Chris Strei is a country singer/songwriter whose style has been compared with Chris Stapleton and Bob Dylan. Chris draws on his own life experiences for inspiration in his music. With compositions influenced by blues, bluegrass and also some elements of hard rock and metal, Chris’s songs tell stories with a relatable point of view. It’s fair to say he’s not the only one who deals with these situations and themes. @imchrisstrei

12am – Cassandra Maze is quite possibly the definition of one-woman-band. Stomping on loop pedals while ripping keyboard solos and belting gutsy high notes is simply Maze’s M.O. And when everything from her fingers to her toes is busy making the music, her focus falls squarely on making sure her audience is having the time of their lives. Expect to put your vocals chords to good use at a Cassandra Maze show, and to walk away thinking “can one person really do all that?” @cassandramazemusic

CJ has played at Hillside Inside – Girls and Guitars and Edgewood Festival, and has performed on “The Drew Marshall Show”.  @cjcooperofficial

9pm – Ace of Wands is the music and songwriting of Lee Rose. Joined by Anna Mernieks and Jody Brumell, the band blends soaring vocals, violin, synth-bass and guitar into songs inspired by the supernatural, elemental forces and physical sensation. Drawing on a background of rock and roll, classical violin training and folk music, Ace of Wands expands their songwriting to incorporate facets of cinematic soundscapes, pop melodies and interlocking guitars and vocals. @aceofwandsband

10pm – Sincerely Craig – A duo coming from completely different musical backgrounds, Sincerely Craig brings metal, rock and acoustic together; creating a vibrant and one-of-a-kind sound. Sasha has a modern musical influence with an extremely versatile and emotional voice. David, a multi-instrumentalist, has influence from various artists from old rock to metal and more. With David’s impressive performance of intricate guitar riffs, percussion played by his feet, the duo’s powerful vocals and stage performance create a sound with an energy that fills the stage. @sincerelycraig

11pm – Rising Few is the guise of Cairo born Illustrator/singer songwriter Karim Terouz.
He fronted and managed his award wining, brassy, folk/rock quintet ’’The Rising Few’’ and released his first album Sinners On St-Laurent in 2014 followed by his second ‘’Adult Entertainment’’ in 2017. In 2018, Karim re-invents his music by incorporating dancehall beats and synths into his 80s/90s alternative roots while playfully utilizing his ‘’Bowie-esque’’ vocals to re-emerge as a refreshingly unique variation of hypnotic, ‘noir’ electro/rock simply dubbed, ‘’Rising Few’’. @rising_few

12am – Chris Velan has always been crossing borders with his mix of world music-influenced, singer-songwriter pop. Chris’ latest album, Amateur Hour, has already been turning heads since its September 14th release with its single, “All Time Record” reaching #7 on CBC Radio 3’s Top 30 Songs of the Week. Adroitly produced and recorded by Rod Shearer,  Amateur Hour, achieves a low-humming, thrilling point of humanness that spans bare-bone ballads and cascading free-for-alls. One is left with the distinct sense that this time around, Chris is gleefully participating in his own dismantling, anxious to explode into his own, joyful splinters. @chrisvelan

8pm – Apryll Aileen is a Canadian alternative pop-rock singer-songwriter, musician, multi-instrumentalist — classically trained in piano. Her sultry vocals, captivating lyrics and alluring stage presence make Apryll a fan favourite at music festivals worldwide. Aileen transcends genres, creating her own undefinable sound with influences coming from pop, rock, blues and jazz. She doesn’t imitate – she creates. @apryllaileen

9pm – Michelle Cavaleri was born on February 28, 1996 in Toronto, Ontario. Michelle took to music at a young age commonly singing before she could learn to properly talk. She quickly picked up the ability to play piano as well as guitar before she turned twelve. At only the early age of thirteen Michelle started writing and performing publically at different local venues around Toronto. Despite her music being categorized as pop, Michelle has graduated with Fine Arts Degree at York University specializing in Jazz performance. @michellecavs
10pm – Davin Chiupka is an alternative acoustic performer based out of Toronto, On. Profiting off broken hearts since 98’… @davinchiupka
11pm – 0Stella is ruthlessly authentic rock blended with traditional Irish fiddle. The solo project of Edmonton based artist Liz Pomeroy, 0Stella’s blend of socially conscious, sometimes politically charged, lyrics and catchy pop melodies create a sense of irony and rebelliousness on stage. Reminiscent of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, St. Vincent, PJ Harvey and The Frames, 0Stella’s songs are violently passionate and unapologetic. In recent years Liz has become a zero-waste living advocate which as influenced her song-writing style and led to the creation of protest lyrics in this latest work. @0stellamusic

12am – Andrew Cassara is a Canadian-born singer-songwriter who has been a music creative and developing his brand of pop for over 4 years. He has a strong social media presence and continues to grow his fan base.In 2017/2018, he and his band became a familiar sight at many summer festivals, most notably at Ottawa’s Bluesfest sharing the main stage with Shawn Mendes. 9pm – Jade Monet is pure soul. The bright, positive energy felt in her presence is undeniable, but does not accurately reflect the tumultuous upbringing she experienced. However, throughout all the trials and tribulations of her life, there remained one constant – singing. It was crystal clear from the beginning that the child born Jade Tjorhom from Half Moon Bay, BC had an incredible natural gift – her voice. Jade Monet combines R&B and Pop with subtle, rock-influenced instrumentation to create her own distinctive sound. @lovejademonet

10pm – Anamolí was born in the geographic heart of Argentina in South America and her deep connection to place and the cycles of nature are evident in her music.  Claiming all of Argentina as her central home Anamolí began singing at the tender age of 10 in local choirs. By the time she moved to the capital of Buenos Aires at 17 she was using her contemporary-mainstream 90’s female influences mixed with her ancestral folkloric chamamé singers to the classic Teresa Parodi and Mercedes Sosa beginning to compose on guitar. She aims to explore the human condition through the nuances of acoustic-pop and folk which derives in catchy melodies transporting you to a more private and introspective place. @anamolimusica

11pm – Blaze Velluto is a troubadour of the stormy hearts, draped in navy and burgundy velvet. As an occasional member in Ponctuation, Call me Poupée and Érotique PQ, he composed many love songs, all recorded between 2008 and 2016. Blaze gathered fifteen musicians to put the finishing touches to Weatherman, his first self-released album which came out in the spring of 2017 and is re-edited by Dare to Care Records in February 2018. @theblazevellutocollection
